State Highway 4 - the Parapara - will be closed during the day Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Motorists travelling this weekend will have to detour around SH4 with that highway closed throughout the day on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
The closure is to allow contractors to stabilise a slip on the highway between Whanganui and Raetihi just north of the Fields Track turn-off.
The road will beclosed from 6.30am to 6.30pm on each of those days. There will still be access for residents and emergency services but the road will be closed to all other traffic.
Workmen will be on duty at either end of the highway redirecting traffic. They will be stationed at the intersection of SH4 and SH49 south of Horopito and at the SH4 - Kaimatira Rd intersection just north of Whanganui.
