Wanganui rugby captain Peter Rowe has taken on a new role and he's in it boots and all.

He's been appointed "ambassador" for Bogs, an Australian footwear manufacturer. Bogs specialises in rural, agricultural, farming and gardening footwear and has been expanding its lines with rubber gumboots as a fashion accessory.

Eion Fredrickson, a company spokesman, said Rowe was the ideal choice.

"Peter's captain of NZ Heartland rugby team, captains the Wanganui rugby, he's a farmer, family man, and lives in typical heartland New Zealand," Mr Fredrickson said.

The boots Rowe is the face behind feature top-drawer technology, with cushioning and warmth to provide comfort in everything from temperate to sub-zero temperatures.

They also include removable orthotic insoles and slip-resistant outsoles.

Mr Fredrickson said Bogs footwear was stocked by several outlets in Wanganui.
