Christmas parades will cause disruptions for motorists on state highways in the central North Island this weekend.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) has issued a caution for road users going through Bulls and Taihape on Saturday, where temporary road closures will be in place.

In Bulls, the intersection of State Highway 3 and State Highway 1 North will be stopped to allow the parade to cross High St. SH3 will reopen once the parade has crossed.

SH1N High St will be closed from Wilson St. The closure will be in place from 8.30am to 12.30pm.

Taihape’s road closure is from 11.30am to 1pm on SH1 Hautapu St, between Huia St and Weka St.

A detour will be in place.

NZTA Manawatū-Whanganui and Taranaki journey manager Mike Dickson advised road users to avoid the areas and plan their trips accordingly.

“We don’t want people being caught out by Christmas parade road closures coming up,” he said.
