Resealing work will require the temporary closure of the Taihape-Napier Rd in the Rangitīkei district.
The road, also known as the Gentle Annie Rd, will be closed from 4545 Taihape-Napier Rd to near Timahanga Station, Ngamahanga, from February 2-7.
Rangitīkei District Council’s roading maintenance services contractor, Downer NZ, will carryout resealing and pavement rehabilitation on areas of the road that are deteriorating.
The road will be closed from 6am-6pm for that week. Residents will have access for essential travel but may experience long delays.
The road will be open at night, but restrictions will be in place.
Downer will use the foam bitumen stabilisation method for the pavement rehabilitation in one area.
This involves crushing up and mixing the existing pavement materials with foamed bitumen to create a pavement layer that is graded and rolled into shape before being chip-sealed.
The council said the benefits of the method included efficiency, lower costs than full reconstruction, recycling of materials, durability and moisture resistance.
