Two of the three people flown to hospital on Friday night after a car crashed down a bank near Taihape are now in a satisfactory condition in Whanganui Hospital.

Four people were in the vehicle when it left the road on Spooners Hill Rd. Two were in critical condition at the time while one was in a serious condition. The other person was uninjured.

By yesterday afternoon, the two who were in Whanganui Hospital were considered to be in a satisfactory condition.

Three rescue helicopters flew to the crash site and rescuers, using ropes, helped to bring the victims back up to the road.

Police and firefighters attended the crash.
