Sun strike said to be cause of Whanganui crash

Two cars have collided on the corner of Liverpool and Harrison Sts in Whanganui.

Police were called just before 4pm on Tuesday.

An ambulance was first on the scene but police have confirmed there were no injuries.

Constable Stu Bourne said an elderly man came through the intersection and failed to give way due to sun strike.

"Everyone's okay and everyone's insured."

Both streets remain open.
