Sun strike is likely to have caused a crash between two cars in Whanganui yesterday morning.
A car was turning right from Bamber Street on to Egmont Street hit the front corner of a car travelling from the opposite direction at 8.07am.
Fire station officer Carl Moon said it lookedlike a case of severe sun strike but luckily no one was badly hurt.
"There was no cloud in the sky and drivers are looking straight into the sun," Mr Mason said.
The driver of a silver car invokved in the collision was taken to hospital as a precaution because the air bags had been deployed. The driver of the other car, a blue Volkswagen, had no medical injuries but went to hospital for a check.
The car that was turning had a "badly beaten" front and was taken away by a tow truck. The other car had little damage.
Police said there was a female in one car and a male in the other, and they were still investigating the case."It is too early to say whether any charges will be made."
