CRIME: WAVERLEY residents are being targeted in an apparent "steal to order" burglary-fest.
Three homes have been burgled over the past week.
Waverley police Senior Constable Brian Rook said the homes were only being targeted for certain electrical equipment ? chainsaws, electrical tools and petrol.
Brassey St was targeted overnight on Thursday, while
homes on Suther and Swinbourne sts were hit on Sunday night.
Fortunately in the Sunday night burglaries the offenders were disrupted and a trailer-load of equipment ? and a vehicle ? were left behind.
The offenders were then seen taking off towards Wanganui. Mr Rook said the concerning aspect of the crimes was they were targeted ? or "steal to order" crimes.
"Normally we just get the odd playstation or whatever stolen. But these are very specific. They're leaving other tools behind which is unusual, and having the same tools taken, like chainsaws, petrol, boxes of tools, but they're leaving behind weedeaters and other stuff. They're not just going through the shed and taking what they can."
Mr Rooks was appealing to members of the public who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in the areas between 2am and 6am on both occasions.
