State Highway 3 reopens after bus and ute collide near Whanganui

The bus and ute collided at around 7.41am on Tuesday.

State Highway 3, near Westmere, Whanganui, has reopened after a bus collided with a ute.

Emergency services responded to the crash, near the SH3 and Western Line intersection at 7.41am today.

One person has been transported to Whanganui Hospital with moderate injuries and another person was assessed at the scene with minor injuries.

No passengers were on board the bus.

Hato Hone St John responded with one ambulance and one rapid response unit.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand central shift manager Allison Munn said two trucks from Whanganui responded.

Munn said an operational support unit assisted the police with traffic management.

The intersection reopened at 9am and both vehicles were removed.
