Sky gazing

Ramon Wright adjusts a telescope from Wanganui's Ward Observatory to allow members of the public to view a partial solar eclipse.
Mr Wright, the vice president of Wanganui Astronomical Society, said about 25 people showed up at the central city observatory on Saturday morning to see the event.
Only about half of them were lucky enough to have a look when the clouds cleared for five minutes at about 7.20.
"We managed to see something, whereas probably a lot of towns didn't," Mr Wright said.
Two telescopes were used, the computerised one above and a portable Dobsonian one.
They were equipped with solar filters which block out 90 percent of the sun's light, which would otherwise damage the human eye.
