A single motor vehicle incident in National Park township in the central North Island left one person in hospital on Wednesday.

A police representative said the incident took place on Ward St in National Park at 11.15am.

A St John representative said St John responded with a helicopter and an ambulance, but the helicopter was stood down prior to arrival on the scene.

St John assessed and treated one patient with moderate injuries and the person was transported to Taumarunui Hospital.
