An illustrious former pupil of Te Kura o Kokohuia will return to the school tomorrow, when Silver Fern Joline Henry pays a visit.
Ms Henry will visit the school to deliver a kit of netball equipment and run a skills and training session with the school's netballers.
Each Silver Fern
was given a kit of netball gear, courtesy of Holden, and could nominate any school to give it to.
Kokohuia's netball co-ordinator, Wendy Cribb, said the school was grateful Ms Henry had chosen them. She said the netball students were excited to be getting a netball lesson from one of their school's most famous pupils.
"Although many of our students here know Joline as their cousin or their aunty, so it's not that big a deal for some of them," Ms Cribb said.
Ms Henry said she was looking forward to visiting Kokohuia.
"It's very exciting to be going back to present netball and training equipment to help build young netball talent," she said.
"For a small school of 80 pupils, Te Kura o Kokohuia has some real budding talent amongst its three netball teams. And hopefully this additional sports training equipment will be put to good use in helping to build future Silver Ferns."
As well as balls, bibs and gear bags, the kit will contain hula hoops and skipping ropes.
