The ShineGirl programme has turned five and they celebrated the milestone with a new programme, a new office and new name - ShineCity. ShineCity is a non-profit, community group that runs self-development programmes to inspire and empower participants to make good choices and dream big for their futures. They hosted
a thank you morning tea for their funders, and an open day where their staff, volunteers, supporters and past participants gathered. The organisation was spoilt with treats sponsored by Mint Café catering and Frank Bar and Eatery.
The ShineCity motto is 'your life has purpose ... live your potential'. The group's programmes are interactive, activity-based programmes for girls, called ShineGirl, and for boys, called Strength, that are run through the local intermediate schools as well as the ShineWomen programme, which is delivered in partnership with community agencies.
The new ShineCity office is at suite 8, 208 Victoria Ave. For more information or referrals phone 06 927 6295 or www.shinecity.nz
