SH1 south of Waiouru closed following three vehicle crash

Several people are injured and emergency services are responding to initial reports of a three vehicle crash on SH1, Waiouru Military Area, Ruapehu District.

Police were alerted to the crash around 11.45am and a helicopter has been dispatched to the scene from Palmerston North.

The road is closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

The Serious Crash Unit have been advised.
