Psychics Sue Nicholson and Kelvin Cruickshank have two chances to make sense of murder.

Psychics Sue Nicholson and Kelvin Cruickshank have two chances to make sense of murder.

I didn't find the re-enactment of a supposed cold case murder, initially named a hit and run more than 20 years ago in Ngaruawahia a particularly enlightening piece.

It just didn't get off the blocks.

New series "All New Sensing Murder" was the story of 23-year-old Donovan Reidy killed supposedly in a hit and run.

It was flimsy at best with few sinister aspects to tangle the emotions.

It was obvious the actors were very keen on their roles though with some fairly incredible face pulling and feigned angst going on.

So this fateful evening started with a bunch of people at a party in a garage, drinking, smoking cannabis, cracking on to heavy metal music and getting wasted.

Of course there was a couple of scuffles, a broken glass or two, a bloodied hand, a smack over the head ...the usual.

The dead man Dono - aka Tiny - was played dramatic flair by a small handsome actor with a mullet who inched into every scene with gusto; he was up for an Oscar this boy.

Even his swagger could have got him a mention.

But when you saw a picture of the real Donovan all resemblance was dashed...gee casting!

So after a tedious 30 minutes or more this cold case was frozen solid even with a tearful friend, feisty cousin and frail dad all pleading to have Dono's killer bought to justice.

The inner circle of party members, family and friends believed an old adversary of Dono's had taken umbrage at the party that night and was enraged with the cheeky little blighter.

It seemed this former flatmate also gave Dono a ride to the highway so our young man could hitch back to Auckland.

On the way the car was snapped at a local all night service station where the said friend bought two pies.

After that it was the body on side of road. It was a hit and run the cops said.

Then star turns of the show are on psychics Kelvin Cruickshank and Sue Nicholson and the action is elevated to heavenly spheres.

At this juncture I could feel myself yelling "aaaagh" but trying to disguise it as a loud yawn.

Kelvin got snippy with young Dono's spirit and told him to get real.

Sue was deep and meaningful and said it was all about Dono's head.

That was it for this week. Tune in next Thursday.

Prepare to be amazed and devastated... or not.
