Secret ingredient? No, just love

There's no secret to the Geoff and Judy Anderson's marriage - they just love each other.

The Wanganui couple celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on Friday with a happy hour at Summerset Village.

"I never found anybody that I wanted to swap with," said Judy, surrounded by flowers to mark the occasion.

The pair met in the Whangaehu Valley, where they lived near each other. Their brothers were friends and Judy used to see Geoff cycling past her house.

They married in 1946 at Collegiate Chapel. Judy says they never fight.

"Because we love each other, and we enjoy each other's company, and we're the mother and father of our children," she said.

Geoff agreed their marriage was simply based on love.

"Both our parents were from loving families - it rubs off," he said.

"It's a waste of time fighting. We just make up."

The couple, who are both in their late 80s, farmed at Whangaehu and raised four children.
