Whanganui's young people are set to benefit directly from the Rotary Club of Wanganui North's annual trailer raffle.
The club has held the raffle for the past 10 years, with tens of thousands of dollars raised for youth activities in the district. Generally, the money has been donated to assist the work of other organisations.
However, raffle co-ordinator Mike Green says this year the club wants to support youth activities that may not qualify for traditional funding and sponsorship opportunities and it has set up the Rotary Club of Wanganui North Youth Sponsorship 2019 Programme.
"We are looking at activities that develop character, leadership and confidence in sporting, cultural or recreational endeavours," Green said.
Funding will be a maximum of $500 per activity or event and will be allocated after the fundraising has been completed at the end of the year.
Applications will be considered from individuals, and groups representing individuals, aged 13 to 19 who currently live within the Whanganui District boundaries.
Applications forms will be available at the raffle stand in various locations around Whanganui or contact sponsorship co-ordinator Evert van Reenen on 021 0240 7169 .
