The West Coast Bombers in action against the Hellmilton Roller Ghouls at Jubilee Stadium on Saturday.

The West Coast Bombers ended their home season with a bang after getting past the Hellmilton Roller Ghouls 168-94 in their co-ed matchup at Jubilee Stadium on Saturday.

Emma Camden, aka Crystal Crush-Her, said the male players on the visiting squad had the bulk, compared to their side which is more built for speed.

"It was pretty fast and quite physical, they were big men. It was fun."

The best blocker and jammer are chosen by the other team, with Jay Newell and Mel Deacon being chosen respectively.

Three members of the Bombers - two from Whanganui and one from Palmerston North - have been selected in the New Zealand Men's team who will be going to Barcelona next year.

"It really highlights the decision we made to go co-ed because we're attracting more males to the sport," said Camden.

In the early matchup, the league's development squad Stealth Bombers were beaten 107-62 by the Quiet Riot from Levin.

The 16-year-old 'Crash' Ryan Turner was chosen as best jammer, while Wendy Calcinai was best blocker.

Saturday was supposed to be the end of the 2017 season, however Camden said they have now received an invitation for a show bout in Wellington this December, while the Stealth Bombers will attend a tournament in Taupo in November.

On Sunday the Bombers will have their pre-intake training course for new cadets, with the group split around 50-50 between males and females.

Bodies were left on the deck more than once in the co-ed game.
