Pururi St robbery
Police are investigating a report of a robbery at a Pururi St address around 3.35pm yesterday. A spokeswoman said it was early days in terms of taking statements and no one had been caught yet.
Children injured
Four children were taken to Whanganui Hospital after a crash on private land at Kaiwhaiki just before 4pm on Tuesday. Police said it involved a farm vehicle. A helicopter was dispatched, taking two children in a serious condition to Whanganui Hospital. Two others, in a moderate condition, were taken by ambulance to Whanganui Hospital. All are in the children's ward in a stable condition, with one of them expected to move to the theatre ward today, a Whanganui District Health Board spokeswoman said.
Smoke inhaled
A person is in a serious condition in hospital after inhaling smoke at an incident in Aramoho. Emergency services were called to a Flemington Rd house just before 6pm on Tuesday where a pot left on the stove had filled the house with smoke. One person was taken to Whanganui Hospital in a serious condition, a St John spokesman said.
Suspicious fires
A series of suspicious fires in Marton early yesterday have sparked a police investigation. Fire crews from Marton and Bulls were called to a series of spot fires in Marton Park around 3am. A Fire and Emergency spokesman said there were at least five fires along the roadside and across the park.

Two people involved in a crash near Ohakune on Tuesday morning remain in a stable condition at Whanganui Hospital. Emergency services were alerted to the two-vehicle crash on State Highway 49 just before 7am. Two patients were taken to Whanganui Hospital in a serious condition. Both have been moved to the surgical ward and are stable, a Whanganui District Health Board spokeswoman said yesterday.

National Party list MP Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi will be speaking in Whanganui this evening . All are welcome at Multicultural House, 137 Anzac Parade from 5.45pm. Singh Bakshi will be speaking and answering questions from 6pm to 7pm. The Multicultural Council of Rangitikei/Whanganui wishes it to be known that the council is not supporting any particular political parties.
