A person with minor injuries has been taken to Whanganui Hospital after a car hit a power pole in Jones St, snapping it in half.

A police spokesman said emergency services were called at 12.13pm on Thursday to the accident near the intersection with Millward St in Whanganui East.

"The power pole was snapped completely and the intersection at Jones St and Millward St is blocked," he said.
