It was dogged by bad weather, sickness, the sacking of director Vincent Ward and injuries on and off the set ? but the movie River Queen is due to be finished next month.
The film was finished in early December and is now being edited in London.
River Queen publicist Sue May said editing of the New Zealand-UK co-production with two-time Oscar nominee Samantha Morton and Hollywood actor Kiefer Sutherland was being carried out in London.
Kiwi actors Cliff Curtis, Temuera Morrison, Danielle Cormack and Nancy Brunning were the other big names in the movie, which was filmed mainly in the Wanganui region.
Co-producer Tainui Stephens said the film was in the last month of post-production, capturing the various sound effects in the UK.
Staging of the world premiere had not yet been decided, Ms May said.
