The foundations of the second stage of a major inner-city development are being readied. This view, looking from Victoria Ave, toward St Hill St, shows the framework of the 5500sq m two-storey Farmers department store in the background.
In the foreground are the foundations for nine independent retail stores that
will open on to the Avenue. A further three shops will be built in Maria Pl.
Watts and Hughes Construction is the lead contractor for the multi-million dollar development, known as Victoria Retail Centre. The building will surround a 71-space carpark and every shop will be accessible from the carpark or via an enclosed walkway linking it to the Avenue.
