Such a relief! Repertory Theatre is back in business after the levels 3 and 4 lockdowns.

Level 2 rules allow us to resume rehearsals and present plays to the public providing we maintain social distancing and wear masks in the auditorium.

Direct Hit, our play within a play, which deals with tensions between cast members, will be on stage from October 7 to 15.

Directed by Kerry Girdwood, Direct Hit will be a New Zealand premiere production with evening performances starting at 7.30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 7, 8 and 9, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, October 13, 14 and 15. Our usual matinee performance will be on Sunday, October 10, opening at 2pm.

Our play reading group is once again able to meet this month. We're going to read a play written by well-known comedian and playwright Allison Quigan in collaboration with Ross Gumby.

Four different women, each with their own issues, sign up for a DIY course only to find their male tutor is less than enthusiastic. The women set about teaching him the correct attitude. Do they eventually develop some understanding of each other? We'll see.

The next important announcement is that we will be holding auditions for our children's production, Fantastic Mr Fox, to be directed by the very experienced Phil Portland.

We need boys, girls, men and women of all ages so come along and audition at Repertory Theatre, 4 Ridgway St. Auditions will take place on Saturday, October 2 from 11am to 4pm and on Sunday, October 3 from 11am to 3pm. Further information is available on our website www.wanganuirepertorytheatre.co.nz
