Shifting the Relay for Life to Cooks Gardens is part of an undertaking to update the event.
Rejuvenated for 2013, the relay will be more inclusive of those in the community unable to take part physically.
Relay for Life 2013 co-ordinator Gerard Wills and Cancer Society Sun Smart and Smokefree
health adviser Jane Beamsley launched the 2013 event to business and sports groups and those who had taken part in previous years.
They revealed a few "secrets" to breathe new life into the relay, which will be held on the grass.
Mr Wills said many people in the community who were elderly, children, disabled or sick could not participate in the 24-hour event.
