The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter was called to an event near Marton where a motorcyclist received multiple injuries.

A Pipiriki woman was taken to hospital on Saturday suffering multiple wasp stings.

The woman, in her 60s, was known to be allergic to wasp stings. She was treated at Pipiriki, about 90km north of Whanganui, and then flown by the Palmerston North rescue helicopter to Whanganui Hospital.

A hospital spokeswoman said the woman has since been discharged.

As the rescue helicopter left Whanganui Hospital, it was called to an event in Marton where a motorbike rider in his 20s had received multiple injuries.

He was stabilised by paramedics and the event medic before being flown to Palmerston North Hospital.
