Patea Kindergarten is rejoicing after nearly $11,000 from an art auction poured into the coffers last month.

The event was part of the annual fundraising efforts for the kindergarten.

The kindy committee - which is parent-based and small - must raise between $10,000 and $14,000 to make sure the teachers have enough resources to provide a quality early childhood education for the 45 children who attend.

However, the success of the art auction would not be possible without the huge support of the community, particularly artists who donated their work.

The artists included Marianne Muggeridge, Michaela Stoneman, David Trubridge and Kay Reedy.

Sponsors who backed the event included Patea Electrical, Waverley Motors and Patea Four Square.
