Whanganui Police want help to find this person who may be able to provide information about the robbery of a 60-year-old man after he had withdrawn cash at the Gonville Shopping Centre.
The robbery happened on April 15 after the man withdrew cash from an ATM at 7.20am, Senior SergeantAndrew McDonald said.
As he walked home, the man was assaulted by two males near the Braves softball park on Puriri Street. Items belonging to him were taken, including his Samsung cellphone.
The offenders ran off in the direction of the Tawhero golf course shortly after the assault. Both were described as male Europeans aged between 19 and 23. The victim received minor injuries and was upset and shaken by the assault.
Police would like help from the public to identify the person in the photograph. It was taken by a closed circuit television camera inside a Gonville business around the time of the robbery. Police believe the person pictured may have witnessed the theft.
"We are keen to speak to him - we would like help to identify him so we can establish if he was involved or if he witnessed the assault," Mr McDonald said.
Street robberies were not common in Wanganui, Senior Sergeant Shayne Wainhouse said.
Anyone with information can contact Senior Constable Kilpatrick at Gonville Police Station or call Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
