A person has died after a single-vehicle crash near Santoft Forest in Rangitīkei District.

Police were called to the crash on Santoft Rd about 9.50pm on Sunday.

The sole occupant of the vehicle was found dead.

The scene has been examined by the Serious Crash Unit and inquiries are ongoing.

The death will be referred to the Coroner.
