A person has died after a car crashed into a house in Castlecliff, Whanganui.

Emergency services were called just after midday on Wednesday.

The crash happened on the intersection of Karaka and Taupata Sts and Westbourne Terrace.

Police attended and Hato Hone St John sent two ambulances.

Police said inquiries into the crash were ongoing.
