Nothing But The Night - Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band

Nothing But The Night - Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band

Song of the day is the latest offering from The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band's album Lay It Down which was released in 2017.

The single is titled Nothing But The Night and just as you would expect, here we have Kenny's smooth, effortless and faultless guitarwork that has made him a worldwide favourite since he started way back in the mid 90's.

Now 40, Kenny was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and is self taught and unable to read music.

His was given a toy guitar as a 4-year-old, and took up playing seriously at 7 after meeting one of the Apostles (Mr Stevie Ray Vaughan) and he began to play along to his dad's Blues albums.

At 13 he took to the stage for the first time at the invitation of Blues player Bryan Lee and in '95 he released his debut album Ledbetter Heights which was critically received, and his second album Trouble Is... featuring his classic single Blue On Black which came out in '96 and brought him to the world's attention.

A stellar album and worthy of 9.75/10 on the Mark-o-Meter. Both of those albums went Platinum in the US.

So far Kenny has released eight studio albums, one live album and one EP and his band consists (of course) of him on lead guitar and vocals, Noah Hunt on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Kevin McCormick on bass and Jim McGorman on drums.

There is one thing about today's song, and that is the intro which sounds similar to another song which I can't quite remember...perhaps something by another Apostle (Eric Clapton)?........anyway, it's another goodie, so PLAY IT LOUD.
