Music can make a difference

Tomorrow Wanganui residents can enjoy some quality homegrown music and donate to a good cause at the same time.

Give A Little, Give A Lot is collecting money and food for the Wanganui City Mission.

Held from 11am at Majestic Square, the event will see a line-up of local bands and acoustic music.

The concert is free, but Daniel Harding from Give A Little, Give A Lot said those who made donations would go in the draw to win concert tickets.

"We have a double pass, worth at least $50, to see The House Of Shem. Those who donate at least $5 or four cans of food have the chance to win that double pass," Mr Harding said.

The House Of Shem concert will be held at the War Memorial Hall on Friday.

Mr Harding said the last concert held by Give A Little, Give A Lot was in March 2011 and featured Ardijah. It raised funds to help the victims of the Christchurch earthquake.

Among the bands appearing this time are local lads Jack Of Hearts, who have been playing together for about a year.

They admit to eclectic music tastes but said their repertoire was mostly rock.
