Famous kiwi drag queen Miss Ribena is about to wage a war of wigs in Whanganui.

Stunning Kiwi drag queen Miss Ribena is waltzing her way to Whanganui to wage war.

A wig war that is and only the best hairpiece will take the prize at Lucky Bar on June 17.

"I am so looking forward to meeting lots of wonderful Whanganuians with their best wigs on," says the celebrity queen also known as Kevin Dunsneath.

"I'm doing a similar show in New Plymouth this weekend and it has sold out."

It will be a battle of the drag queens but organiser Stanley Manthyng says the competition is open to all.

"Men, women and children can enter.

"It is all about the wigs and it doesn't matter who wears them."

Although Miss Ribena's signature colour is purple, she likes the green gingham number she was wearing for a photo taken in Karangahape Rd.

"I looked like I had just whipped up a lovely batch of scones."

Dunsneath has been performing as Miss Ribena since 1998 when he formed a trio with Miss Cola and Miss Fanta at Auckland's Hero Parade.

"People have come to love Miss Ribena and I do a lot of touring as well as regular shows at The Family hotel in K Rd.

"Whanganui is dear to my heart because I have family there and I will be catching up with them while I'm in town."
