The car crashed on Cemetery Rd, just out of Sanson in the central North Island. Image / Google Maps

A man has died following a single-car crash just out of Palmerston North.

Police were called to the scene on Cemetery Rd in Sanson at 4.05am.

The man who died was the front seat passenger of the car.

The driver received moderate injuries and was taken to hospital.

The serious crash unit was investigating.
