A man has denied ramming a police car with a ute in Marton.

Christopher Malcolm Duane Muir, 35, pleaded not guilty in the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday to a charge of aggravated injury with intent to avoid arrest.

The Lower Hutt man has also denied charges of failing to stop for police, doing a threatening act, burglary, male assaults female, wilful damage, and five breaches of a protection order.

He has pleaded guilty to another charge of failing to stop, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, and unlawfully converting a motor vehicle.

Muir has made an intimated guilty plea on one count of reckless driving.

Some of the matters which relate to offending in Wellington have been remanded for case review in the Wellington District Court on October 20, while the rest of the matters will be put through to case review in Whanganui on September 20.
