A man who took someone's car out for a test drive and never brought it back will be sentenced for his crime in April.
Mathany Lenden, who was suspended from driving, saw the victim's car for sale on November 3, Judge David Cameron said on Tuesday in the Whanganui DistrictCourt.
He asked about taking it for a test drive, then "took the vehicle with the intention of never returning it to the victim".
Lenden took the car home and put it up for sale on a social media site, Judge Cameron said.
He pleaded guilty to the theft and driving while unlicensed.
Defence lawyer Stephen Ross said, during an earlier case before the court, Lenden had been assessed and was found to be have a "borderline intellectual disability".
Judge Cameron referred the matter to restorative justice and ordered a pre-sentence report. He remanded Lenden to April 4 for sentencing.
