Former Married at First Sight star Angel Heron is rallying troops to help search for missing Bulls man Kevin Hartley, saying the family has "a wee hole in our hearts without him".

Hartley, from the small North Island town near Palmerston North, has been missing for five days.

Bad weather in recent days has hampered the police search, but police said last night they continue searching this weekend.

The 54-year-old was last seen driving a quad bike from Scotts Ferry to the beach last Friday evening. The bike was later found in nearby sand dunes.

In a post on Instagram, Heron said a search party would head out at 8am on Saturday to try find Hartley.

"It would mean a lot to me and his family and friends if you are available to help out or could spread the word so we can have a good number of people there," she said.

"We have a wee hole in our hearts without him and need to bring Kevin home to his family."

It was not clear how Heron was connected to Hartley or his family.

Search data would be reviewed over the next few days, police said, and planning would start for the weekend.

"After five days of searching police have failed to find Kevin, despite the enormous effort by all the agencies and volunteer civilians involved," Sergeant Andy Brooke said.

"This has been a very difficult time for Kevin's family and police continue to liaise closely with them."

The search has been hampered by bad weather over the past few days because of Cyclone Gita.

The dive squad could not go out today because of rough seas, but police, LandSar NZDF and local volunteers searched for Hartley on land.

Searchers have been concentrating on the area north of the bombing range, but have also been searching the forest area, shelter belt and sand dunes.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts was urged to contact police.
