What a weekend the Vintage Weekend was - nostalgia, memories, showing the grandchildren how it was in our day. The Wonder Years was a series that screened on TV in 1988 and this is where I found this quote - "Memory is a way of holding on to the things
you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose", and it is true. Older generations loved the things that reminded them of the days gone by, they understood those things and they are no longer challenged by them and they will never lose those memories. I flicked channels; Heartland was playing an episode of Opportunity Knocks, the equivalent of New Zealand's Got Talent, but from the 1970s. I found myself remembering my involvement in the music industry and had a short trip down memory lane. I noticed the home-made dresses, matching clothes for groups, boots, and frills. Then I was reminded that we do not remember days, we remember moments; and I got to thinking if I cannot hold on to the past, or go back there, I can only store it away among my treasured things, and then what? Well, I must move on, I have opportunities ahead waiting to be discovered. What seemed right in the past, doesn't seem to fit anymore as I head off in my new directions. I'm so glad that I am not alone, that I can call on my angels and guides to be with me as I explore new things, new beliefs and meet new people. I believe that we are in a new time, a time of powerful intuition and new abilities, a time to spread our wings and fly free. Free to manifest love, peace, wisdom and above all compassion. For we are not all the same, and we need many opportunities to be with each other, in order to learn from each other. Thank you for the lessons you give me.
