By now, most of you reading this will be aware of the changes the Chronicle is undertaking.

As well as the change in format to tabloid page size in our Monday to Friday editions, there are some new content initiatives to make the paper more inviting and relevant. These are not isolated to the weekday edition, with some great additions and a few tweaks to the weekend edition, which is staying in its current format.

Some of these initiatives are reader-focused but we want to invite more people to take an active involvement in the Chronicle. There are many ways to do this and we have been working on several options.

We are reinstating the popular reader photo item on a daily basis and, as an incentive, anyone who has one published will go in the draw to win a prize. Ditto for letter writers. We want to encourage more of you to have your say so will offer a prize to the person nominated as penning our letter of the week.

It's great that we get so many letters but it would be better to see more, and some new names popping up so if you feel moved by something you've read, heard or experienced, drop us a line. Details are on this page.

The ways you can get involved don't stop there. We are starting a new feature called Take A Bow where we will be seeking nominations to reward some of the many hardworking unsung heroes in our community.

To make a nomination, please outline why you feel the person you are nominating is deserving and email to editor@wangnauichronicle.co.nz or post to Take A Bow, Editorial Dept, PO Box 433, Wanganui.

As we move into a new era of publishing, we really do invite you to be a part of our journey and contribute to our knowledge of what is happening in our region. There have always been letters and columnists but technology has opened so many doors and we want to encourage you to join the conversation - for that is what it is - whether by texting, email, commenting on our website, following us on Facebook or Twitter, the choice is yours. There are so many ways for you to interact with us and fellow readers, and we encourage you to do so.

The new-look Wanganui Chronicle also welcomes some new columnists, many of whom will be familiar names. They will add breadth and diversity to our pages and complement our parochial local news coverage.

But as always, it is about what you, our readers want. If there is something you feel there should be more of, or that you want to see less of, I need to know. Likewise, if you have a passion for and knowledge of a particular activity or field that might fill a gap in our coverage, let me know. I am always seeking new material that will be of interest to our readers.
