Almost 100 international students have chosen Whanganui as their study destination for 2019 and were welcomed to the River City this week.

They gathered at the War Memorial Centre on Wednesday where they enjoyed afternoon tea and got to know each other before meeting with Whanganui mayor Hamish McDouall.

Whanganui and Partners also welcomed the students that have come from all over the world including China, India, Denmark, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Germany and other countries.

To cap the welcome off the students learned some te Reo through the delivery of Taonga Takaro activities by the Whanganui DHB's Pania Miller and Desiree McLean.
