The intermediate graded greyhounds provide the main 520m chasing action at Hatrick this evening when they contest The Rock 95.2FM C3 event (Race 10).

A number of the regular Friday open class attendees were engaged in the heats for the $45,420 New Zealand Derby up at the Cambridge Raceway last night, while others have been allowed to bypass this evening owing to next Thursday's looming $15,000 Palmerston North Gold Cup.

It certainly is an even-looking C3 line up this evening.

As usual this grade is dominated by greyhounds from the Lisa Cole kennels.

Bigtime Kate is stepping up in class here following her recent C2 410m and 520m wins.

Her new class isn't expected to hold her for long.

Kennelmates Bigtime Zack and Bigtime Talker are both capable of featuring at the business end here.

Foxton conditioner Marcie Flipp produced Idol Tom to also win a C2 520m race last Friday.

The stylish manner he won that event says he'll be competitive in this field, despite his poor five trap draw.

Bill Hodgson will load away his charge Caveman Sam into the one trap.

His improved draw is likely to assist him here after having suffered from traffic problems in his recent outings.

Cole, who concluded Wednesday's Hatrick meeting with her season tally sitting on 548 training successes, again holds the key to the likely outcome of the open class 305m sprint (Race 5).

Bigtime Sugar produced the meet best 305m winning time of 17.45s last Friday and he is poised to serve up a repeat dose this evening.

Looking to deny him is the Flipp-prepared Idol Hot, who also clocked 17.45s when winning her last start 305m dash here.

Backing up Cole's contenders here are Bear Inda Square, Bigtime Blue and Bigtime Eve.

Who's John Gault is likely to finish strongly.

Other leading prospects on this evening's card includes Daisy Lara (Race 7), who is dropping back in class for her 305m sprint for Cole.

Offering some value could be the Angela Turnwald-trained Viva La Vixen (Race 11).

This bloke is resuming from a spell and he benefits from an easing in class for his return.

He will exit from the eight trap from where he owns a proven record from.
