Wanganui Indoor Bowls representative Brendon Kenny reached the final of the plate competition at the Henselite Indoor Bowls Champion of Champions singles tournament in Nelson on Saturday.
Going through to the second tier playoffs in post section play, Kenny defeated South Otago's Eileen Grant 10-8 in the quarterfinals, then PovertyBay's Malcolm Trowell 11-9 in the semifinals.
That set up the playoff with North Harbour's Sharon Peters, who beat Central Otago's Kevin Hurley 13-6 and Bay of Plenty's Gary Hunt 13-4 to make the last game.
Peters good form continued as she defeated Kenny to lift the plate at the Warnes Indoor Bowls Stadium in Stoke, the small town on the outskirts of Nelson.
New Zealand representative Ashley Diamond of Upper Hutt Valley won the singles championship, beating Auckland's Alex Reed 11-8 in the final.
