Whanganui-born MP Andrew Bayley will be speaking about his polar expeditions at a fundraiser for National's Whanganui candidate Harete Hipango.

National Party MP and Wanganui Collegiate old boy Andrew Bayley will be in Whanganui this Saturday.

The MP for Hunua is the guest speaker at a fundraising dinner for National's Whanganui candidate Harete Hipango.

Mr Bayley, who was born in Whanganui, will be speaking about his trips to the North and South poles.

In the summer of 2012/13 he dragged a sled 112km to the South Pole and in 2016 he and his son each dragged sledges 120km across the ice to the North Pole.

It is estimated that only about 120 people have trekked to both Poles.
