Whanganui's Art Galleries will be opening from 5-7.30pm on Thursday, December 10 (tomorrow) for Whanganui's first 'Gallery Hop."
There has been a huge growth in the number of galleries in Whanganui in recent years, and there are now more than 20 galleries in Whanganui with regular opening hours. This special event
is a great chance to get out and experience some incredible local art, and support our local creative community.
Gallery Hop Whanganui is on Facebook and also at www.sublime-retro.net. Fliers listing the galleries open on the night double as 'Art Passports' which, with 'visa' stamps collected from participating galleries, can go into a draw to win a piece of original art.
Juliet Dewhirst manages the PS Lill Artist Gallery in Victoria Court, which opened early this year. "Visitors to my gallery often say that they are disappointed to find me closed in the evenings, so I am very pleased to have this opportunity to keep my doors open after office hours.
"I hope art lovers come out and 'make an evening' of the Gallery Hop, discover something new and exciting, and, as the poster says, Fine Art makes a Fine Gift!" she said.
