The first few days of the National Senior Tournament in North Harbour has not been kind to the Wanganui representative women's hockey team.
The competition began on Sunday, although Wanganui's first game was on Monday.
The team, made up from Wanganui and Taranaki players, went down 3-0 to Counties-Manukau inthe only match they played, while yesterday morning they held out Auckland in the first half before losing the plot in the second spell letting in three goals within six minutes and end with yet another 3-0 loss.
At the half time break both sides were scoreless, but Auckland attacked scoring in the 54th, 59th and 63rd minutes of the Pool A clash.
The Wanganui girls were down 2-0 in the first half against Counties-Manukau and failed to improve in the second spell letting in another goal in the 52nd minute.
Wanganui was set to play North Harbour in a late afternoon session yesterday before tackling Pool A leaders Canterbury at 4.30pm today.
Canterbury is looking by far the strongest team in Pool A with a 5-1 thrashing of Auckland on Sunday, a nil-all draw with North Harbour on Monday morning and then demolishing Counties-Manukau 5-1 yesterday morning.
