It's afternoon Hatrick racing today owing to the big ticket racing meeting at the Addington Raceway this evening.

The first race will be dispatched by the starter at 12.13pm.

It is the New Zealand bred open class greyhounds who will feature during the meeting, as they chase after final field positions for next Friday's $12,000 NZ Racing Series Advanced (NZRS) final over 520m.

All NZRS races are restricted to Kiwi-bred greyhounds and are designed to reward the breeders of the placed greyhounds in the finals.

The breeders of those greyhounds receive half of the stake money on offer.

It comes as no surprise to see the two heats to be contested this afternoon are chocker with greyhounds prepared from the Lisa Cole kennels, with 14 of the 15 contenders in those heats being trained from her Palmerston North base.

The only outsider involved in this series is trained by the Wanganui GRC president Brian Marsh.

Tyson's Quest is a proven competitive 520m chaser at this venue, who has no option but to use his known early speed to place himself on the pace when rounding the first turn, after he hops away from the eight trap in the first heat (Race 9).

The leading Cole prospects in this heat start with last Friday's 30.46s open class 520m winner Bigtime Rocco.

Also, last start Manawatu 457m winner All About Space has drawn nicely in the one trap, while Bigtime Bruno and Bigtime Homie hold advancement claims.

Heat two (Race 10) features the dual Group 1 winner Trojan Hoarse, while Bigtime Rod, Bigtime Archie and Bigtime Kiss are all capable of featuring.

Group 2 racing features at the Manawatu Raceway on Monday afternoon where the $28,000 Total Bodyshop North Island Challenge Stakes will be decided (Race 12).

Four competitive 457m heats held last Monday finalised a field stacked full of quality greyhounds.

The Cole kennels will provide four finalists with last year's winner of this race Bigtime Levi (26.23s heat winner) returning to defend his title. Bigtime Rod and Trojan Hoarse are backing up from their Friday assignments.

Cambridge conditioner Peter Ferguson produced his classy chaser Robson to win his heat in 25.99s, while Tirau trainer Karen Walsh holds a strong hand in the final with her pair of heat winners Thrilling Amigo (26.13s) and Thrilling Talk (25.79s).

Monday's meeting features a $20,000 terminating TAB Pick6 (races 7-12) which will also feature at every Monday Manawatu meeting throughout July.
