Consider this evening's Hatrick racing as a prelude to next Friday's program of dual Group race rounds of heats for the 520m and 305 greyhounds.

It's a super competitive field of open class greyhounds who will contest the Hatrick C4/5 Stakes over 520m this evening (Race 9, 8.15pm).

All greyhounds involved in this event can be expected to return to contest the heats for the $45,420 Spion Rose Cup at Group 1 level next Friday.

A sound winning case can be built for at least six of the acceptors tonight.

As usual, the nation's leading trainer Lisa Cole has chasers engaged who can strongly make their presence felt.

Forgive their kennel mate Allegro Gun's recent misses.

He completely bombed the race start last Friday, which ended his stakes earning prospects.

Again, if he picks the jump, he can lead throughout.

Tirau conditioner Karen Walsh commands absolute respect whenever she lines up greyhounds at this venue.

Thrilling Raider effortlessly won in 30.04s over 520m here two weeks ago.

Drawing trap six here is a concern, however he is always capable of winning from anywhere.

Thrilling Lola secures the draw advantage here via the one trap.

It's the first time she's drawn there, however her racing style says she will be suited by her kind draw.

Canterbury trainer Craig Roberts is bringing his Wanganui Cup winner Ride Ain't Over back to give him a warm up outing prior to next Friday's assignment.

He had a mixed New Zealand Cup series when exiting at the semifinal stage. He will enjoy jumping from trap seven here.

The 305m sprinters are also preparing for their Group 2 $15,825 Dash For Cash heats next week.

There are two 305m sprints tonight, with Walsh strongly favoured to win both of them.

Danny Dee has won his last three sprints at this venue and being allocated trap one in Race 4 says you can expect him to extend his winning sequence.

Kennelmate One Cold Foot owns a real hot set of paws.

Watch out for him to skip through his dash here in Race 5.
