Matiu Hepi and son Taria, four, enjoy a read yesterday at the revamped Wanganui Davis Library.
Mr Hepi said he liked the makeover, which made the library lighter and more spacious. The interior has been recarpeted, painted and rearranged to create a more user-friendly space. Library youth advocate Clemency Boyce said children
like Taria are enjoying the new kids' space
One popular library programme benefiting from the makeover is Tusitala for pre-schoolers which takes place every Thursday from 10.30 for around an hour.
Ms Boyce said the programme was free and participants could turn up on the day. The library will host more kids activities next week for its school holiday programme including a Random Acts of Kindness mural painting session. The Whanganui Community Foundation has provided books on the concept to the library as well as paint and materials to create an artwork celebrating kindness.
Ms Boyce said the Random Acts of Kindness concept was about teaching children that it was good to be kind to others. For more information on library kids programmes call 349 1000.
