Ted Shannon picked a bad day to hole-in-one the 7th at Rangatira on Saturday during the PGG Wrightson Tournament.
Backing himself proved a costly exercise for Feilding golfer Ted Shannan when he holed-in-one at the Rangatira Golf Club on Saturday.
The 19-handicapper aced the par 3 7th hole using his trusty seven iron easily winning the double or nothing offer during the PGG Wrightson Tournament - and therein lies
the rub.
Shannon was rapt to score his first ever hole-in-one and also win the PGG Wrightson Double or Nothing offer on the hole.
"The offer was put your money down and if you're ball hit the green and stayed there you doubled your money," Shannon said.
"I threw $10 down and collected $20, but I picked a bad day to hole-in-one. I had to shout the bar and it was tournament day with about 50-odd people playing, so it proved pretty costly in the end.
"I've been playing golf for a couple of years and joined the Rangatira club. I live in Feilding and travel up when I can, usually every fortnight."
