GIVEALITTLE: The Whanganui community is being urged to support a campaign to fund security cameras at the Rangitikei St dairy, after it was robbed and two people bashed.
A Givealittle page has been set up to raise money to improve security at the Rangitikei St dairy where two people were violently attacked this month.
Dairy owner Mr Zhou, and a woman who came to his aid, were assaulted by three men armed with a hammer who entered theWhanganui East store about 5.30pm on Saturday, September 9. A fourth male offender remained outside.
Both victims were struck on the head and subsequently treated in hospital for non-life-threatening head injuries. The female victim received 30 stitches to the head.
Stacey Foskett, whose children and family are regular customers at the dairy, has set up a Givealittle page to raise money to install security cameras there.
"The dairy owner has a young family to support who live onsite and this could have ended a lot worse," Ms Foskett said.
"Let's help them to install cameras so they can feel safe and can continue supporting themselves with the security of cameras to prevent further incidents.
"I'm involved because this is my local dairy and it saddens me that this happens in our community. My children and family go to this shop and I want to know our neighbourhood is safe and protected."
Ms Foskett said as well as installing security cameras in the dairy, funds raised may also be able to assist the neighbouring takeaway shop. The fundraising target is $1500.
