Boredom while waiting at the Emergency Department at Whanganui Hospital will be a thing of the past for 48 lucky kids after fundraising by Girls' College students.
Twelve girls at the school decided, as part of their community awhi project, they would raise money for Gabby's Starlit Hope charity, whichwas founded by 13-year-old Gabby Devine.
The New Plymouth girl died in 2015 of bone cancer but set up her charity while in remission and carried out 1000 random acts of kindness.
Gabby Devine's family have continued the work of the charity so children in need of cheering up would receive toys.
When Whanganui Girls' College approached Gabby's mother and Gabby's cousin Jess to let them know they had raised money for the Gabby's Starlit Hope charity, the two decided the Boredom Buster bags would be great project to put the money towards.
The bags contain activities for children, like colouring in books and pens.
ED clinical nurse manager Carla O'Keeffe was delighted with "this very kind gesture from the girls and charity".
The Devine family are from Whanganui and chose the city's hospital as one of five around the country where the charity would continue to try to bring smiles to the faces of sick kids.
